Using Win XP Pro; While trying to do a back-up to external USB Drive, using Rescue & Recovery I receive the above message; I have recently upgraded Rescue & Recovery to the current 4.21 version; The USB driver was installed while using the original version 1.00.00 of RnR; Can this cause the above corrupt or unreadable file or directory?Please! can anyone can help me with this? Rescue and Recovery is, I believe, a utility from Lenovo/IBM. Contact their tech support for help with their program; it isn't part of Windows.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

What program are you using to do the backup then? I'm sorry but I interpreted, "While trying to do a back-up to external USB Drive, using Rescue & Recovery" as meaning you were backing up using Rescue and Recovery. What is drive Z:?MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

Yes I did use Rescue & Recovery,; my apologies; I did think the problem may be with the USB Drive, which was turned off during the upgrade. As well, I am unable to do a restore, because, according to the explanation, the USB drive was turned off, disconected or removed. Sadly Lenovo Tech Support doesn't even talk to me because I am out of warranty and their charges are ridiculously high. I just have to carry on finding a solution to this. Thanks', HDS HeinrichDS
